User Terms
Effective date: 11 October 2026
These User Terms ("Terms") govern Ficious accounts, community features, aquarium-care features, marketplace listings, chats, orders, and in-person handoffs. By creating an account or using these features, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the relevant feature.
1. Your account
You must be legally able to use the Services; where local law requires, a parent or guardian must agree and supervise your use. Provide accurate account details, keep your credentials private, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. Do not create an account for another person without permission or maintain multiple accounts to evade enforcement.
2. Buying and selling
You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, condition, ownership, pricing, and fulfilment of your listings and offers. Describe animals, products, and equipment truthfully, disclose material condition or care needs, and do not list stolen, counterfeit, unsafe, prohibited, or unlawfully traded goods or species. Do not misrepresent availability, identity, payment, or delivery terms. Buyers should check the listing and seller and agree on price, payment, delivery, and any permits before proceeding.
3. In-person handoff
Arrange handoffs carefully and choose a safe public location where appropriate. Inspect the item, its condition, and any relevant animal-care needs before confirming receipt. An in-app QR or handoff confirmation records an action in the Services; it does not verify identity, payment, ownership, authenticity, animal health, or that an item matches its description, and it is not a guarantee of a successful transaction. Ficious is not a party to transactions between users and does not guarantee a listing, seller, buyer, payment, delivery, or outcome. Contact the other party and support promptly if there is a problem; preserve relevant records.
4. Community posts
You keep your rights in the posts, messages, photos, and other materials you create. You give Ficious permission to host, display, and distribute them as needed to provide the feature you use. Only share material you have the right to use; do not publish illegal, deceptive, abusive, hateful, harassing, private, or spam content. We may restrict or remove content that appears to violate these Terms or applicable law. You can report content or users to support.
5. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Your public profile, display name, avatar, and content or listings you publish may be visible to other users. Do not include sensitive personal information in public posts or listings. Messages and information shared with another user may be retained by that recipient.
6. Suspension
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close an account to enforce these Terms, respond to reports, prevent fraud or harm, protect the Services, or comply with law. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will explain the action and how to contact us about it. You may request account closure by contacting support; some records may be retained as explained in the Privacy Policy.

8. Aquarium care and connected devices
Care information, community advice, sensor readings, and device actions are informational aids, not veterinary or emergency advice. Sensor readings can be delayed, incomplete, or affected by device placement or failure. You must independently monitor water conditions and animal welfare, maintain devices, and intervene when needed; do not rely on an automated reading or action as your sole safeguard.
9. Payments, fees, and disputes
Unless a feature clearly states otherwise, Ficious does not hold funds, act as an escrow agent, or guarantee payment, delivery, refunds, or a buyer's or seller's performance. Users are responsible for agreeing on payment and delivery terms and for complying with applicable consumer, tax, import, animal-welfare, and trade laws. We may review reports and take action on the Services, but we cannot promise to resolve a private transaction dispute.
10. Changes and availability
Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We may update these Terms and will update the effective date above; where required, we will notify you or ask for renewed consent. Continued use after a change takes effect means acceptance only where applicable law permits.
11. Legal rights and contact
